Description

The Raymarine AIS700 is a 5 W Class B SOTDMA AIS transceiver with an integrated VHF antenna splitter. It both transmits your vessel identity/position and receives AIS traffic from surrounding vessels and aids to navigation, then shares that information with compatible chartplotters and instruments. The built-in splitter allows the AIS700 and a VHF radio to share one properly installed VHF antenna.

Main Features

  • 5 W Class B SOTDMA transmission for faster updates and greater practical range than older 2 W CSTDMA Class B units.
  • Full AIS transmit and receive so your vessel can be seen while you monitor surrounding AIS-equipped traffic.
  • Integrated VHF antenna splitter simplifies installation and avoids a second AIS antenna.
  • NMEA 2000/SeaTalk NG and NMEA 0183 interfaces plus USB for setup/diagnostics.
  • Hardware/software silent mode allows AIS transmission to be disabled when appropriate while retaining receiving capability.

Situational awareness

AIS complements radar by providing identity, course, speed and navigation information from participating vessels. It does not detect land, debris or vessels without AIS, so it should augment rather than replace radar and visual watchkeeping.

SOTDMA performance

The AIS700 uses self-organized TDMA and 5 W output, giving faster reporting at speed and improved transmission performance compared with legacy 2 W Class B systems.

Shared-antenna installation

The internal splitter provides connections for the primary VHF antenna and VHF radio, simplifying an installation that otherwise may need a separate AIS antenna. Correct 50-ohm marine coax and antenna placement remain important.

Network integration

AIS targets can be displayed on compatible Axiom/Element systems and shared across NMEA 2000/SeaTalk NG or NMEA 0183 equipment.
