Description
The Raymarine Ray73 is a premium fixed-mount VHF designed for dependable marine communications and integration with modern navigation systems. It provides Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC), 25 W marine VHF transmission and internal GPS/GNSS. Built-in AIS receiver. Dual-station capable with optional wired/wireless raymic.
Main Features
- Class D DSC marine VHF for routine, safety and distress calling when correctly programmed with the vessel MMSI.
- Internal gps/gnss supplies position information for DSC and network use.
- NMEA 2000/SeaTalk NG and NMEA 0183 integration with compatible chartplotters and vessel electronics.
- Dual-station capable with optional wired/wireless raymic for the intended helm layout.
- Built-in AIS receiver.
Safety communications
DSC adds selective calling and a dedicated distress-alert workflow when the radio has a valid MMSI and position source. A proper marine VHF antenna installation remains essential for practical range.
Navigation-system integration
Network connections allow compatible Raymarine chartplotters to use radio/GPS data and make it easier to build a coordinated communications and navigation system. AIS-equipped Ray73 can send received targets to compatible displays.
Installation considerations
VHF performance depends heavily on antenna quality, antenna height, coax losses and correct power wiring. Plan remote speakers/handsets and NMEA connections before cutting the helm.
Choosing within the range
Ray73 is best selected for its combination of helm space and station requirements. Ray53 is compact, Ray63 adds remote-station expansion, Ray73 adds AIS receive and hailer functions, while Ray90 moves the transceiver out of sight for a clean modular helm.
