Description
The RNS-5 5-Port Gigabit RayNet Network Switch is a marine Ethernet switch used to expand Raymarine RayNet networks for chartplotters, radar, sonar and IP cameras. It provides 5 RayNet Gigabit Ethernet ports in a rugged marine enclosure, allowing larger Axiom systems to move high-bandwidth data between multiple network devices.
Main Features
- 5 RayNet Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed marine Ethernet expansion.
- Designed for RayNet systems including Axiom displays, radar, sonar modules and IP cameras.
- Gigabit-class data handling on RNS network architecture for bandwidth-intensive sensor data.
- Daisy-chain capability supports larger multi-switch installations.
- Rugged marine enclosure intended for protected vessel installations with waterproof connectors.
Why add a network switch
A switch becomes necessary when a helm has more Ethernet devices than the multifunction display can connect directly. Typical examples include multiple chartplotters, Quantum/Cyclone radar, sonar modules and marine IP cameras.
Compatibility
RayNet is Raymarine’s marine Ethernet connector system. RJ45 or older SeaTalk HS devices can be integrated with the correct RayNet adapter cable, but this switch does not convert network protocols.
Installation planning
Locate the switch where cable runs remain manageable and where power, ventilation and service access are available. PoE-capable devices should be connected only to ports and power budgets that support them.
