Description
Canada Cordage (Orion Cordage) Blue 3-Strand Polypropylene Rope, 5/16″ – Sold by Foot – 5/16″B is a lightweight, floating utility rope for marine, dockside and general-purpose work. The traditional three-strand construction is easy to grip, knot and splice, while polypropylene resists rot and absorbs very little water.
- Floats in water – useful for marine utility lines, marker lines, dinghy work and dockside applications.
- 3-strand twisted construction – familiar handling characteristics and straightforward splicing.
- 5/16″ (7.9 mm) diameter – sold by the foot so the required length can be ordered without buying a full reel.
- Blue colour – provides easy visual identification on deck, dock or worksite.
- Polypropylene fibre – lightweight, rot resistant and resistant to many common acids and alkalis.
This Canada Cordage polypropylene line is a practical choice where buoyancy, economical cost and easy handling matter more than the higher shock absorption of nylon. It is well suited to utility lines, fender or marker applications, temporary lashings and other non-life-safety marine tasks.
The legacy Canada Cordage marine catalog lists a nominal break load of 1,368 lb for this diameter. Break load must not be treated as a safe working load.
Load note: Published break load is a laboratory tensile value, not a working load limit. Select an appropriate safety factor for the application and reduce allowable load for knots, splices, shock loading, wear, UV exposure and other service conditions.
