Description
The Raymarine EV-1 is the 9-axis heading and attitude sensor core used in Evolution autopilot systems with traditional hydraulic or mechanical steering. It continuously measures vessel motion and heading and supplies the high-quality attitude data used by the Evolution steering algorithms.
Main Features
- 9-axis solid-state sensing for heading, pitch, roll and motion awareness.
- Evolution autopilot sensor core for traditional steering systems.
- SeaTalk NG / NMEA 2000 network connection distributes heading and motion data.
- Flexible mounting orientation reduces installation constraints compared with older fluxgate compasses.
- Useful as a high-quality heading source for compatible radar and navigation functions in addition to autopilot steering.
System Role
EV-1 is a sensor, not a complete autopilot. A compatible ACU, drive unit and pilot controller or compatible Axiom control interface are required for a complete steering system.
Installation
Mount the EV-1 away from strong magnetic fields and high-current cabling, and commission it as part of the complete Evolution system. Correct heading data materially improves radar overlay and target tracking at low speed.
