Description
The GARMIN GT51M-TH is a 12-pin thru-hull transducer combining medium-frequency CHIRP traditional sonar with ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar. It is intended for offshore and coastal fishing installations that need strong traditional depth performance plus detailed structure imaging.
Main Features
- 600 W medium-frequency CHIRP traditional sonar
- ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar at 260/455 kHz
- 12-pin Garmin connector for compatible sounders/chartplotters
- Thru-hull installation with depth and water-temperature sensing
- Traditional CHIRP depth capability up to approximately 1,800 ft under favorable conditions
Traditional CHIRP
The GT51M-TH sweeps approximately 85–165 kHz for traditional sonar. Garmin specifies a beam width that narrows through the sweep, helping balance bottom tracking and target separation.
Scanning sonar
ClearVü provides a detailed view beneath the vessel and SideVü extends imaging to either side. Practical range depends on frequency, water conditions and mounting.
Installation
The transducer must be installed through the hull in clean water flow. Confirm hull material, deadrise and fairing requirements before installation.
Compatibility
Use with a Garmin sounder or xsv chartplotter that supports the 12-pin connector and this transducer’s frequency/power requirements.
