Description

INTERLUX VC Performance Epoxy – V127KIT-2GAL

Overview: INTERLUX VC Performance Epoxy is a two-part, fluoro microadditive-bearing epoxy that cures to a hard, slick, stain-resistant finish for underwater surfaces on high-performance powerboats and racing sailboats. The fluoro microadditive adds lubricity, making wet sanding and burnishing easier for a smoother, faster surface. This coating is also well-suited to rack-stored and trailered boats—or boats kept in the water where antifouling protection is not required. It has no antifouling or foul-release properties.

  • Hard, slick epoxy finish for underwater performance surfaces
  • Fluoro microadditive improves lubricity and eases wet sanding & burnishing
  • Stain-resistant semi-gloss finish
  • Great for trailered / rack-stored boats or in-water use where antifouling isn’t needed
  • Designed for spray, but can also be applied by brush or roller

Compatibility: Can be applied to gelcoat, bare fiberglass, epoxy, and properly primed metal. Apply to clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces only, and only over two-component underwater-specified coatings. If any single-pack paint (including antifouling) is present, it must be removed before proceeding as a bare surface.

How to Prep Your Boat for VC Performance Epoxy – ALWAYS CONSULT MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO APPLICATION

1) Confirm it’s the right coating for your use: VC Performance Epoxy is a hard performance finish and does not provide antifouling or foul-release protection. Use it when antifouling isn’t required.

2) Remove incompatible coatings first: If there is any single-pack paint on the surface (including antifouling paint), strip it completely, then treat the surface as “bare” and follow the prep steps below.

3) Prep by substrate (follow the manufacturer sequence):

  • Bare fiberglass: Scrub with soap and water using a stiff brush, rinse with fresh water, wipe with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202, sand with 80-grit, then wipe again with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202.
  • Clear epoxy: Scrub with soap and water using a stiff brush, rinse with fresh water, wet sand with 80-grit, wash down with fresh water, then wipe with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202.
  • Bare metal: Sandblast or grind to a bright metal finish. Immediately apply Viny-Lux Primewash 353/354 thinned 25% with Viny-Lux Solvent 355, then allow to dry 1–24 hours before coating.

4) Fairing (if needed): If fairing is required, use Interprotect Watertite between the 1st and 2nd coats of VC Performance Epoxy, then apply 3 coats of VC Performance Epoxy over the fairing.

5) Mix, induct, and thin properly: Mix base and curing agent thoroughly at the specified 1:1 ratio. Allow induction time (45 minutes at 10°C / 30 minutes above 25°C). Use Reducing Solvent 2316N as the thinner, and only thin (if needed) after induction.

6) Apply coats within the window: Apply 3 coats (3–4 as needed) by spray (preferred), brush, or roller. Recoat within the published min/max window (max 24 hours). Allow full cure before immersion.

7) Temperature matters: Keep within the published ranges: product temp 10–29°C, ambient 10–35°C, and substrate 10–35°C during application.
