Description
Canada Cordage (Orion Cordage) White 3-Strand Nylon Rope, 3/8″ – Sold by Foot – 3/8″N is traditional white three-strand nylon cordage designed for marine applications where strength, flexibility and shock absorption are important. Nylon stretches under dynamic load, helping soften the shock of waves, wakes and vessel movement in dock-line and anchor-rode service.
- High shock absorption – nylon elongation helps cushion dynamic loads on cleats, chocks, anchors and deck fittings.
- 3-strand twisted construction – easy to inspect, knot and splice using conventional marine techniques.
- 3/8″ (9.5 mm) diameter – sold by the foot for custom dock lines, anchor rodes and utility lengths.
- White nylon construction – resistant to rot and suitable for wet marine service.
- Marine utility versatility – suitable for dock lines, anchor applications, general securing and shock-loaded service.
Canada Cordage literature for this legacy line specifies DuPont 707 nylon and notes that the rope can be stored wet, will not rot, and resists many common acids, alkalis and organic solvents. Nylon is heavier than polypropylene and sinks, but provides substantially better energy absorption for docking and anchoring.
The legacy published nominal break load for this diameter is 2,592 lb.
Load note: Published break load is a laboratory tensile value, not a working load limit. Select an appropriate safety factor for the application and reduce allowable load for knots, splices, shock loading, wear, UV exposure and other service conditions.
