This two component epoxy primer boasts exceptional corrosion and adhesion properties, making it perfect for use on steel, aluminum, wood, and fiberglass substrates. Whether you’re working above or below the waterline, 545 will deliver impressive results. To ensure optimal application, follow our simple surface preparation guidelines. For aluminum, sand blast or grind to achieve a 2-3 mil profile. For steel, sandblast or grind to SSPC-SP10 or Sa 2 1/2 standards. Gelcoat/fiberglass requires sanding with 100-150 grit paper, while wood should be smoothly sanded with 80-100 grit paper. Mixing and reduction are a breeze with 545. For spray application, combine one part 545 base with one part D3001 and achieve a smooth and homogenous mixture. To reduce viscosity, add up to 25% T0006. For brush/roll applications, mix one part 545 base with one part D3001 Converter and reduce 5-10% with T0031. In colder temperatures, the COLD CURE Accelerator M3066 can be used for maintaining ideal dry and cure times. In terms of application, spray on smooth, wet coats to fill and cover surface profiles. Depending on the desired thickness, 2-3 coats at 7-10 mils might be required. With an induction time of 15 minutes after mixing and an anticipated pot life of 16 hours at 77°F/50% R.H., you can work at your own pace and achieve professional-grade results.
