In 1952, Blayney Scott and his wife Almeda started a small company in Victoria, British Columbia with the intent of pioneering the use of plastics to manufacture fishing lures and other marine products. From their humble beginnings, Scotty Manufacturing Ltd. evolved to produce thousands of products under the Scotty trademark, focused on the fishing, marine, outdoor and firefighting industries worldwide.

The Scotty Saltaire Downrigger was released in 1973 and while they’ve made countless tweaks, refinements and improvements in subsequent designs, the purpose hasn’t changed, help get you into the fish.
