Description
The COMET 1605 is the body-and-line portion of the Linethrower 250 marine line-throwing appliance. It combines the plastic launcher, integral firing mechanism and 250 m of 4 mm line, but does not include the pyrotechnic rocket. Fit the compatible line-throwing rocket before emergency use.
- 250 m line: carries a 4 mm diameter line for ship-to-ship, ship-to-shore and rescue applications.
- Rocket sold separately: requires the matching COMET line-throwing rocket before operation.
- Reusable body: launcher and line container can be serviced with replacement rockets according to manufacturer guidance.
- Non-hazardous without rocket: the body-and-line assembly is not classified as pyrotechnic dangerous goods when shipped without the rocket.
- SOLAS application: line-throwing appliances are standard emergency equipment on many commercial vessels.
COMET advises replacing the body/line container with every third set of rockets, approximately every nine years. The appliance can be used to pass a line between vessels, between ship and shore, or to persons in the water when conditions permit.
